| Use Case #6: Protecting cardholder data in the data center for PCI compliance |
|
One of our retail customers had a gap in their encryption plan for cardholder data regulated by PCI. File shares and servers in their data center, where the cardholder data is processed, were unencrypted. They faced a less-than-clean PCI audit and ongoing fines from Visa until the problem was fixed. They were able to quickly and easily deploy BitArmor DataControl on the servers that were out of compliance. Before Visa could say “charge it!”, all cardholder data being processed in the retailer’s data center was protected. The retailer could also document protection for their PCI audits with reports from DataControl’s audit log. What’s next? Now that they’ve reached PCI compliance, our retail customer is looking at ways to better protect their pricing and strategic marketing information against outside attacks. They’re planning to deploy DataControl more widely in their corporate headquarters, on desktops and laptops, so their important proprietary information will stay proprietary. |
